The Biological Safety Cabinet (BSC) classifies biological safety cabinets. These are cabinets that are designed specifically to store and handle hazardous materials that can cause severe damage or injury to people if exposed. The term biosafe is used to designate that these cabinets are safe for biological safety cabinets. This is important because the storage and handling of these materials need to be done with the utmost care to avoid any damage.

Class III Biological Safety Cabinets

There are three different BSC classes, which are primary, secondary, and tertiary. Each class is further broken down into subgroups biosafety cabinets class 2. For example, the primary biological safety cabinet class is further subdivided into subgroups such as personal, single-use, and continuous usage. There are also subgroups within each class such as human and animal, universal, and hospital biological safety cabinets. These are just a few examples of the types of subgroups and subtypes.

These cabinets are primarily used for a number of reasons. The primary reason is to store materials that are potentially harmful or dangerous to people who come into contact with them. Materials that are classified as harmful include those that create or release large amounts of free radicals when biodegradation occurs such as hydrogen peroxide, amines, sulfuric acids, and chlorine. Other chemicals that are hazardous to include those that are flammable, corrosive, combustible, or radioactive.

Other dangerous materials include those that can be absorbed through the skin and into the blood stream. Other hazardous materials include pesticides, lead acid batteries, PC batteries, tires and grease, vinyl chloride and other plastic materials, asbestos, pesticides, and mold.

Many biological safety cabinet class 3 cabinet systems are available on the market. You can purchase cabinet systems that include a closed cabinet, a polyethylene lined cabinet, or a custom lid. You will also find several different styles. Some cabinet systems have a clear front, a partially translucent back, a window, or a combination of both. If you want to be able to quickly see what is inside your cabinet, then one of the options that you may want to consider is a biometric lid system.

The basic operation of a biological safety cabinet class 3 is the same as any other biological safety cabinet. When you open the lid, the biohazardous substance is released into the cabinet. This is typically through an air pump that allows the material to be released into the air. The pump will usually have a handle that you use to lift up on the top of the unit. To close the lid, simply push down on the handle. You do not need to worry about leaving the door ajar when you are working, because the biohazardous substance will automatically close itself when the lock has been released.
